Is it legal to tape a family meeting without some of the family members and attorney knowing?
First meeting was in Iowa – 9 people present including lawyer. One of the of the disgruntled children taped the meeting without the mother, lawyer, and at least 3 of the other siblings knowing. Is this legal? How do we proceed?
Second meeting in Illinois: 6 people present (mother & 5 children) One of the of the disgruntled children taped the meeting without the mother, and at least 2 of the other siblings knowing. Is this legal? How do we proceed?
Can this disgruntled child share these tapes with individuals doing business with Mother and 2 siblings not knowing about the tapes? What can be done?

Good question, why would you care? If someone was lying then I guess that would make them upset. If all things were true and fair then there should be no discontent. RIGHT?
Tell the truth and treat people fairly and you have no reason to worry or even ask this question!
As it is family meeting, there is nothing wrong in it and any dispute may be resolved inside of the family.
But as there where people outside of family involved,it is illegal and may end in law suit, which will cost heavily.
If peron is not aware and did not gave you permision to tape him or make photos/voice recording etc. and this will be used publicly
i.e. you will show video tape where persons face will be seen clearly it will be considered intervention into persons private life.
I would suggest talking to those persons and explaining that there is a video tape on which their face is seen clearly and ask them for permision to use tape publicly.
If you ever tape something in meeting better advice those involved that the meeting will be recorded and video ued publicly.
As i said before while its in the family , there’s nothing wrong in it.
